Neither the Green Bay Packers nor Las Vegas Raiders have a winning record this season to date. So who made out best in the celebrated Davante Adams trade?

This latest NFL offseason was loaded with deals featuring some of the bigger names in the league at quarterback and wide receiver. Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan wound up in Denver and Indianapolis, respectively. Speedy Tyreek Hill was sent to Miami and former Pro Bowler A.J. Brown was picked up by Philadelphia.

Earlier this year, the Las Vegas Raiders wound up acquiring talented wideout Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. The defending NFC North champions picked up a pair of 2022 draft choices. But it’s been a struggle for both teams to date.

Re-grading Davante Adams trade for Packers and Raiders after 7 weeks

Las Vegas Raiders

The team acquired Davante Adams from the Packers back in April for a first-round selection and a second-round pick this year. He has played and started all six of the club’s games this season. He leads the club with 37 catches, good for 509 yards and five scores. Those numbers are all team highs.

But Adams has also been targeted 63 times and his reception rate is just 58.7 percent. And perhaps the best is yet to come as he and old friend Derek Carr continue to get reacquainted. Still, Adams has five of the Raiders’ nine touchdowns through the air – all via Carr.

Grade: B+

Green Bay Packers

As for those aforementioned two selections, the first-round selection was used on University of Georgia linebacker Quay Walker. The second-rounder was dealt to the rival Vikings. General manager Brian Gutekunst moved up to grab North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson.

Walker ranks second on the club with 51 defensive stops, to go along with two passes defensed and a forced fumble. Watson has had his ups and downs. He’s missed three games, caught just seven passes for 52 yards and his lone touchdown of the season came via a rushing attempt.

Grade: C

Grades are always subjective. But what isn’t up for debate is the fact that these two playoff participants from a year ago are sporting losing records these days. The Raiders sit at 2-4 despite this week’s 38-20 win over Houston. Meanwhile, Matt LaFleur’s club has dropped to 3-4 following three consecutive losses.

So has anyone really “won” this big deal to date?
