3 teams that need to call Broncos about Bradley Chubb trade
By Scott Rogust
Denver Broncos linebacker Bradley Chubb could reportedly be traded if the team is to lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. Here are three teams who should call.
The Denver Broncos were supposed to be the biggest threat to the Kansas City Chiefs in terms of favorites to win the AFC West. That has not been the case, as they are 2-5 on the season, quarterback Russell Wilson has not played up to expectation, and first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett has made some confusing decisions early on in his tenure. As it turns out, the Broncos could be sellers, not buyers, at the Nov. 1 trade deadline.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Broncos have received multiple trade calls for wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler, and linebacker Bradley Chubb. In regards to the latter player, there was yet another report to drop.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, the Broncos could trade Chubb by next Tuesday if they are to lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8.
Chubb has been solid for the Broncos this season, leading the team with 5.5 sacks. The thing is, he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the campaign. Given that the Broncos are spiraling out of control, they could stand to trade Chubb for a good return of draft picks before he hits free agency.
Here are three teams that should trade for Chubb.
Bradley Chubb trade rumors: 3 NFL teams that should call the Broncos
3. Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are undefeated when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is starting. However, they are 4-3 on the year after Tagovailoa was sidelined with a concussion. The Miami offense is stacked, so there is no need for them to make a move at the deadline.
But, they can stand to add someone of Chubb’s caliber to the defense.
Miami’s defense, as a whole, have recorded 14 sacks on the season. Given that they went to war with the Buffalo Bills’ monstrous offense and the New York Jets are a team on the rise, they could use some of their draft capital to acquire Chubb.
2. Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams and the Broncos are no strangers to trade deadline deals. Just last season, the Broncos agreed to trade linebacker Von Miller to the Rams in exchange for a second and third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
What’s to say that the Rams will not call the Broncos again for Chubb?
Yes, the Rams do have more pressing needs on the offensive line, but why not add someone who could very well be the top player moved at the deadline? The Rams have already shown that they were going to add the biggest names available, as evidenced by their reported interest in running back Christian McCaffrey. So, they can use the picks that they were offering to the Carolina Panthers for McCaffrey to land Chubb from the Broncos.
1. Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are the lone undefeated team remaining in the NFL entering Week 8. This comes after they added loads of top talent in the offseason, including wide receiver A.J. Brown, cornerback James Bradberry, and safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
Given that the Eagles are in a favorable position entering the deadline, and rightfully so, what’s to say they do not continue to add at the trade deadline?
Philadelphia is in an NFC East division that is tougher than anyone expected. The Dallas Cowboys have a vicious pass rush, and the New York Giants defense has proven to be clutch late in games. Bringing in Chubb could help make their already strong defense even better.
The Eagles have a plethora of draft picks, including the New Orleans Saints’ first-round deal after their pick swap ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. With the Saints underperforming this season, the Eagles could potentially have a Top 10 or 15 pick at year’s end, in addition to their own first-rounder.
