Packers must make this trade after another injury blow to offense

The Green Bay Packers offense suffered an injury it cannot afford to Allen Lazard. In desperate need of wide receiver help, here’s where Brian Gutekunst should turn.

Green Bay’s offensive display has been poor, to say the least, through seven weeks of NFL football. So, what should be done about it?

One of the few targets Aaron Rodgers can count on is veteran Allen Lazard. Rodgers and Lazard have played together for over four seasons. While Lazard’s career-best is 513 yards, in life after Davante Adams, he’s on pace to break that mark in 2022.

Lazard suffered a shoulder injury, either in practice or on Sunday against the Commanders. Matt LaFleur commented on the prognosis and recovery time for one of his top wideouts.

“He hurt his shoulder,” LaFleur said in his Monday press conference. “I’ll kind of leave it at that, see how it feels throughout the course of the week.”

Packers need to trade for a wideout. Why not Jerry Jeudy?

We’ve heard Green Bay connected to the likes of DJ Moore, Chase Claypool, Elijah Moore and, well, more. But should we be looking more closely at Denver?

The Broncos season is on the ropes, even with Russell Wilson in tow. The newly-minted face of the Broncos franchise is injured at this point in the year, and Denver sits in the cellar of a crowded AFC West. Dealing Jeudy for some draft capital, which they lost plenty of in their deal for Wilson, might make sense.

Jeudy isn’t the only wide receiver up for grabs on the Broncos. K.J. Hamler is also readily available. The Big Lead’s Liam McKeone outlined the benefit of dealing for Jeudy, a former first-round pick.

"“The player who seems most likely to get moved is Jerry Jeudy. The former Alabama superstar has been disappointing so far this season, only recording 17 catches for 290 yards and two touchdowns. Drops have been an issue for Jeudy throughout his career and this season he’s caught only 47 percent of his targets, although that can largely be attributed to Wilson’s inaccuracy and the general ineptitude that currently plagues the offense.”"

Jeudy also has two more years left on his contract. It’s time for Gutekunst to pull the trigger.
