Kadarius Toney claps back at memes, claims he wasn’t hurt in since-deleted Tweet

New Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney claims he is not injured following his trade from the New York Giants.
The Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a move to acquire a former first-round pick by the New York Giants. The team traded for wide receiver Kadarius Toney from the Giants in exchange for a third-rounder and a sixth-rounder in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Toney has not played much this season, as he was sidelined with the Giants due to a hamstring injury. In the reaction to the trade, there were memes shared on social media about Toney being healthy as soon as he was acquired by the Chiefs.
The new Chiefs wide receiver talked about his injury in a since-deleted tweet, claiming that he was not hurt.
“That joke would’ve been funny if I was actually still hurt lol,” wrote Toney. “Irrelevant people don’t get updates.” The tweet ended with crying laughing and shrug emojis.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News tweeted out after Toney’s message was deleted that the Giants “officially have no response to Toney’s claim that he is not hurt.” In a previous message that can be found in the quote tweet below, Toney was listed as out on the injury report due to a hamstring injury.
Multiple sources told ESPN’s Jordan Raanan that Toney “was of the belief that his hamstring was good,” but that the Giants “wanted to play it conservatively.”
Toney was selected in the first round of the 2021 draft by the Giants, which happened after the team traded down from the No. 11 spot to No. 20. Important to note that Toney was selected by the previous regime of Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge. The Giants now have Joe Schoen as general manager and Brian Daboll as head coach.
The former Florida Gators wide receiver had his breakout game in his rookie year against the Dallas Cowboys, where he caught 10 passes for 183 yards on 13 targets. Toney dealt with numerous injuries his rookie year, including to his quad, shoulder, hamstring, thumb, ankle, and oblique.
When healthy, Toney has the skills to be a difference-maker for any offense he plays for. He has the speed to run through opposing defenses. Now, he gets the chance to catch passes from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
