JT Realmuto’s game-winning home run in Game 1 of the World Series against the Astros had Phillies fans going wild in celebration.

If you had seen the score between the Astros and Phillies after three innings in Game 1, you would have guessed Houston would get away with a win and an early advantage in the World Series.

The Phillies trailed 5-0. Then they made it 5-5. Then they forced extra innings. Then JT Realmuto won the game.

Philadelphia’s catcher played hero in the 10th inning with a 346-foot home run to put his team up 6-5.

How JT Realmuto’s home run sounded on radio

On radio in Philadelphia, Scott Franzke had another classic call as Kyle Tucker tried to steal the home run at the wall.

Obviously, Tucker wasn’t successful and the broadcast was thrilled as you can imagine.

Realmuto’s home run was heard around the world.

Phillies fans went crazy over JT Realmuto’s home run

Fans in Philadelphia didn’t get to cheer it on in person, but they went absolutely wild back home after watching the home run.

The Phillies fell behind after Kyle Tucker hit two home runs and Martin Maldonado drove in an early run. Trailing 5-0, they flipped the script on Justin Verlander and smoked him for five runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

With the game tied, the bullpens took over and held serve until a diving Nick Castellanos catch sent the game into extra innings.

That’s when Realmuto proved his worth by smashing the winning home run into the stands.

It was dramatic and worthy of the opening game of a World Series. If the rest of the series plays out like Friday, it’ll be a thriller.

Now the Phillies will gear up for a huge opportunity in Game 2 while the Astros will lick their wounds and hope to get one back on Saturday.
