Week 8’s Sunday Night Football matchup looked to be a strong contest when the schedule was first released, but might be a blowout.
When the NFL season was released, fans had this one circled. Now that seven full NFL weeks have played out, it’s looking like this week’s Sunday Night Football iteration is poised to be a blowout.
Who plays on Sunday Night Football tonight, October 30th?

The Bills have scored the second-most points in the NFL, the Packers the 27th-most. You can’t really sleep on this matchup entirely, though, because it does still feature Aaron Rodgers vs Josh Allen.
The Bills, entering the game at 5-1, look every bit the Super Bowl contender they were advertised as this offseason. Quarterback Josh Allen is the leader in passing yards per game (330, far above the second-place Patrick Mahomes at 308). Per pass attempt, he’s second behind division rival Tua Tagovailoa. Allen looks like a sure thing as one of the two or three players debated as MVP barring a major change in the tide.
Beyond Allen — though he is so good — there are plenty of factors making this thing go. Stefon Diggs is second in receiving yards and third in receiving touchdowns. Gabe Davis has been incredible as well, leading the league in receiving yards per reception. He also holds the longest reception of the year thus far (98 yard play). And the Bills defense is still great, adding Von Miller in the offseason to give them some extra pass rushing ability to hopefully finally get past the Chiefs.
On the flip side, the Packers near worst-case scenario has come true, as they enter the game 3-4.
After trading away Davante Adams this offseason, the Packers failed to backfill him with a clear No. 1 receiver for Aaron Rodgers to throw to. Despite having a lackluster committee-based attack for the passing game, the Packers are committed to the throwing game.
They have Aaron Jones, a Pro Bowler, on their roster, but he’s received fewer than 10 rushing attempts in each of the team’s last two games. The answer seems like it’s right there in front of them, but they refuse to take the easy route. More power to them, I guess.

For so long before Josh Allen brought them back to prominence, the Bills seldom had primetime games. Not the case this year, as they were one of the teams with a league-leading five appearances this year. After this game, they have two more: One against the Patriots, and one against the defending AFC Champion Bengals.
How many prime time games do the Green Bay Packers have this year?
The Packers also have five primetime games. They have such games left against the Titans, Eagles, and Rams.

Buffalo Bills vs Green Bay Packers matchup history
These teams haven’t played since 2018. In 2018, the Packers shout out the Bills 22-0. Things should be different this time around.
Overall, the Bills lead the Packers 9-5 thanks to a 5-1 start against the Packers between 1974 and 1994. The last six matchups, all occurring since the year 2000 have been closer, with the Packers and Bills splitting. So this one will determine who takes the 21st-century lead in the series.
