College Football Playoff rankings 2022: Projected Week 10 CFP rankings after Ohio State survives, Georgia & Tennessee dominate
Projected College Football Playoff rankings after Week 9: No. 14-13
14. Kansas State Wildcats
For anyone who was wondering what exactly this Kansas State team is, particularly with starting quarterback Adrian Martinez out of the lineup on Saturday against Oklahoma State, they answered that question in a monster way. They didn’t just win against the previously No. 9-ranked team in the country – they completely dismantled the Pokes in truly embarrassing fashion in a 48-0 victory.
Kansas State is now the owners of the state of Oklahoma with wins over the Cowboys and the Sooners this season. They also own an SEC win by beating Missouri and one of their losses came against still-unbeaten TCU last week, a game the Horned Frogs had to come back in. They might be imperfect but K-State looks the part of a Top 15 team in the country to me.
13. LSU Tigers
On the heels of their huge and emphatic win over Ole Miss last week, LSU had the week off and is riding high. It’s hard to believe this is the same team that we’ve seen over their past two games in wins over the Rebels and Florida that got completely manhandled against Tennessee on Oct. 8. But really, that might say more about the Vols than it does Brian Kelly’s team.
Next up is a huge showdown with Alabama, arguably their biggest modern rival in the SEC West. They get that game in Death Valley and, with the way that Jaylen Daniels has been playing, LSU looks like it might be primed to shock the world and pull off an upset that could also put them in line to compete for a spot in the SEC Championship Game.
