Odell Beckham Jr.’s Bills-Packers tweet is the last thing Green Bay wants to see
By Mark Powell
Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s flirtation with the Buffalo Bills continued on Twitter, which won’t help the Green Bay Packers odds.
In this day and age, two words typed in a social media post can make all the difference.
Everything Odell Beckham Jr. does at this point in his free agency chase is carefully crafted. During the Buffalo Bills Sunday Night Football win over the Green Bay Packers, OBJ let it be known that he was watching. Beckham Jr. was impressed with the Bills offense, and how easily they moved the ball on Green Bay at times.
Damn, indeed.
Odell Beckham Jr. rumors: Bills or Packers?
Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t been connected to the Packers since early October, but considering Green Bay still needs a wide receiver, he’s very much in play. But, with Aaron Rodgers’ group now sitting at 3-5, is Beckham Jr. really interested in playing for a non-playoff contender?
“Obviously with a player like that you’re always hoping there’s a time where you can figure things out and play together,” Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee show. “OBJ and I have been friends for a number of years now.”
If healthy, Beckham Jr. would immediately slide in near the top of the Packers depth chart. His health, however, remains a question considering he’s untested in the NFL this season.
Another one of Beckham Jr.’s potential suitors, the Kansas City Chiefs, already upgraded at the position by trading for Kadarius Toney, previously of the New York Giants. Beckham Jr. wouldn’t cost the same draft capital, considering he’s a free agent, but some organizations don’t have the cap room.
Brian Gutekunst is on the record noting he would spend to upgrade his roster. Green Bay needs wide receiver depth.
As for the Bills, signing OBJ would only add to an embarrassment of riches.
