World Series weather update: Philadelphia forecast doesn’t look promising
By Rylie Smith
The World Series is headed to Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, for the first time since 2009, but the game may be delayed or canceled due to weather.
Things aren’t looking great for the Philadelphia Phillies as they’re set to host their first World Series game since 2009. The weather calls for periods of rain, and officials are keeping an eye out to determine whether or not the game will be called.
According to MLB Communications, another update will be provided at 5 PM E.T., but three different weather experts are calling for rain.
This also happened to the New York Yankees in the ALDS this postseason, and it disappointed many fans.
Phillies vs Astros: World Series Game 3 could be delayed
In the ALDS, fans weren’t eligible for refunds despite the game being moved to another day, and MLB didn’t do much to accommodate those who traveled or couldn’t make it, even though it was out of their control.
If the game does happen to get moved, hopefully MLB will be accommodating to Phillies and Houston Astros fans. After all, the World Series games are expensive and many Phillies fans had to apply to get a ticket to begin with. With such difficulty to get a chance to attend, those who can’t make it under circumstances out of their control shouldn’t be punished.
Only time will tell whether or not the game will still happen, but as the day progresses, it seems less and less likely. Hopefully the league learned from their mistakes with the ALDS and will offer reasonable accommodations for those negatively impacted.
Noah Syndergaard and Lance McCullers Jr. are expected to be on the mound for the Phils and Astros, respectively, should Game 3 take place at the scheduled 8:03 p.m. ET start time.
