The Green Bay Packers didn’t make any trades leading up to the NFL trade deadline, despite needing help at the wide receiver position and more.

Packers fans were rightly not happy with this predicament, as Brian Gutekunst promised that he was willing to spend on the right player(s). That did not occur.

Green Bay sits at 3-5, several games back of the division-leading Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. The Vikings also have a game in hand, as they defeated the Packers in their Week 1 matchup.

The Pack lost this past Sunday to the Buffalo Bills in a manner that had even Odell Beckham Jr. shocked.

Surely, something had to be done. But the Packers exit trade deadline day with the exact same roster they entered.

Packers trade rumors: Brandin Cooks

The 29-year-old Brandin Cooks was arguably the most reliable veteran wide receiver on the open market. He’s record six 1,000-yard seasons and would have immediately become Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target, especially on a team that relies heavily on young players.

Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs would learn a lot from a player of Cooks’ caliber. Cooks has experience with winning organizations like the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints. Being thrust into a high-stress situation in Green Bay wouldn’t have been new to him.

Yet, Cooks was not dealt at the deadline, something he wasn’t happy about in the slightest.

“Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted. Covered for the lies for too long those days are done. Crossed the line with playing with my career,” Cooks stated on social media.

Aaron Rodgers, clearly devoid of capable targets, should’ve served as an escape.
