Throwing a no-hitter in the World Series is an extremely rare feat, but with history potentially being made every night, when was the last one?

Few things put baseball players in an unprecedented realm than doing something spectacular in the postseason. You know, something like throwing a no-hitter.

But that’s exactly what Houston Astros pitcher Christian Javier did in Game 4 of the 2022 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. One night after the Phils absolutely hammered Lance McCullers Jr., the young Javier took the bump and looked unhittable, literally, as he refused to let Philadelphia onto the base paths.

However, Javier’s performance got many baseball fans wondering how rare what we were seeing was. More specifically, there were questions about when the last no-hitter in the World Series was.

Last no-hitter in World Series

As a matter of fact, there has only been one no-hitter in the history of the World Series. And it wasn’t just a no-no — it was also a perfect game.

Back in the 1956 Fall Classic with the New York Yankees facing off against the Brooklyn Dodgers, Don Larsen put on the pinstripes and delivered an absolute gem in Game 5 as he threw a perfect game to guide the Yanks to a 2-0 win.

That game also put New York ahead 3-2 in the series and they went on to win in seven games.

But that goes to show just how remarkable a no-hitter in the World Series truly is. It’s only been done once, which means to do it again would surely etch that pitcher’s name among the elite of baseball immortality.

Every World Series No-Hitter

The only no hitters in MLB history are those thrown by Larsen and then Cristian Javier of the Houston Astros in the 2022 postseason. Throwing a no-hitter in the playoffs it tough enough, doing so in the World Series is virtually impossible, especially given the Phillies hit five home runs against the Astros pitching just one night prior.
