Charles Barkley didn’t mince words when he came out and said the NBA should have suspended Kyrie Irving because of his inappropriate post.

The great thing about Charles Barkley is not only is he great on TNT, but he’s not afraid to call people out for stupidity, including Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving.

Following Irving’s Instagram incident of sharing an Anti-Semitic moment, Barkley wasted no time calling out Irving for his reckless behavior and called for a suspension from the NBA.

"“I think the NBA dropped the ball. I think he should have been suspended. I think Adam [Silver] should have suspended him. They made a mistake… [and] I can’t believe we’re talking about this idiot. We have suspended and fined people who have made homophobic slurs. I think if you insult the Black community you should be suspended or fined.”"

Irving has since released a statement, and now he and the Brooklyn Nets will make a $500,000 pledge each, but that’s not where the story lies. It’s how Irving did not apologize for his comments in his statement. Additionally, Irving expressed “his willingness to have an open mind” when history shows that it is far from the truth.

Charles Barkley did not mince words when calling for the NBA to hand down a suspension for Kyrie Irving.

What makes this more interesting is that NBA commissioner Adam Silver released a statement also, citing a need to meet with Kyrie Irving to discuss this transgression, meaning there is the potential for possible punishment moving forward.

But back to Barkley for a second. Thank goodness for men like him. He is not afraid to speak out or call it as he sees it. Whether it’s this or anything, the Hall of Famer will not mince his words and was right on point in saying what he said about Irving.

What the NBA chooses to do now remains to be seen, and Charles Barkley will eventually give his thoughts on whatever happens. For now, we can hope that this lesson serves as a warning to others who wish to act like Irving in this way, a very reckless and insensitive way. There’s no place for behavior like this ever.
