Red Flags: 5 college football teams on upset alert in Week 10
Two titanic SEC matchups headline Week 10 but our college football upset picks for Saturday show that there are more teams that aren’t safe.
Now that the first College Football Playoff rankings have been released, upsets are simply going to mean more whenever they happen. If a team within the Top 10 that has a reasonable chance of making it into the Top 4 at the end of the season falls, then that’s likely the end of their Playoff dreams. Meanwhile, a big upset win from the outside could create some conversations for the CFP.
And it’s completely fitting that the first CFP rankings are out ahead of Week 10 with some of the titanic matchups on deck. No, we aren’t talking about Ohio State almost surely blasting Northwestern, Oregon likely doing the same to Colorado, and so on. With Georgia hosting Tennessee, Alabama visiting LSU, Clemson traveling to Notre Dame, and much more, this is a massive week for college football.
But which of these teams should see the red flags waving on Saturday as an upset could be brewing in the winds? These are the college football upset picks for Week 10.

College football upset picks for Week 10: 5 teams on upset alert
5. Clemson Tigers
Opponent: at Notre Dame | Time: Saturday, Nov. 5, 7:30 p.m ET | Spread: CLEM -3.5
Apparently, the College Football Playoff selection committee has a lot more respect for Clemson than the oddsmakers and, frankly, I personally do. This team is still flawed and, in the right matchup, it feels like they could still go down and fall from their No. 4 ranking the CFP.
Notre Dame hosting the Tigers in South Bend feels like it could be that matchup. The truth of the matter is that the Fighting Irish have been struggling throughout this season but last week’s dominant performance against Syracuse revealed an infallible truth: If nothing else, Notre Dame is going to stifle the run.
That’s a major problem for Clemson, a team skirting around a QB controversy with the ups and downs of D.J. Uiagalelei causing pain. The Tigers thrive on Will Shipley in the run game, but if the Irish show up and bully the Clemson O-line, I don’t know how Dabo Swinney’s team puts points on the board. This is going to be a slugfest and Notre Dame has a chance at the upset in that type of matchup.
