New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom is scheduled to hit free agency. Here are the five best destinations for the two-time NL Cy Young award winner.

The World Series has concluded, which means that MLB is officially in Hot Stove season. When it comes to free agency, that officially begins on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. ET. There may be some signing to take place fast and furious, while there could be a wait for some of the top free agents available.

Jacob deGrom is the top starting pitcher available in free agency after he opted out of his contract with the New York Mets, seeking a new deal. While it’s hard to believe that deGrom could play for a team other than the Mets, but that could certainly be in the cards. Remember last year when the expectation was that Freddie Freeman would return to the Atlanta Braves, only for the team to replace him with Matt Olson after failed negotiations, paving the way for the first baseman to join the Los Angeles Dodgers.

As for the best destinations for deGrom in free agency, these five stand out.

Pick Analysis. Baltimore Orioles. player. Scouting Report. AL. East. 5.. 11

The Baltimore Orioles have arrived in 2022. They went from being one of the worst teams in all of baseball in 2021, to narrowly missing out on an American League Wild Card berth this year. They’ve prioritized bolstering their farm system, and they have called up some of their top young players this year, such as catcher Adley Rutschman and third baseman Gunnar Henderson.

Considering the Orioles do not have huge contracts on the payroll, they’re in a position to spend some big money in free agency. It has been noted that they have been linked to certain top shortstops available in free agency, but they should absolutely be in the market for an ace.

deGrom could be Baltimore’s ace to help them make the postseason in the next couple of years.
