Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster had a legitimate million-dollar Sunday Night Football game against the Tennessee Titans.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster coined a whole new meaning to the phrase “million-dollar game” on Sunday when he quite literally earned $1 million in incentives for his stellar performance.

The Chiefs persevered over the Titans for a 20-17 overtime win and Smith-Schuster deserves credit for his contributions. He caught 10 of his targets for 88 yards, which brings him to 44 catches over 582 yards total this season.

According to Spotrac, he hits $500k in incentives for 40 receptions and an additional $500k for 500 yards. What better way to celebrate a team win than earning $1 million by passing two thresholds?

Smith-Schuster is rightfully thrilled about his accomplishment. He told Juan Cisneros of Fox 4 KC, “I’m not going to lie to you, moments like this, I embrace it, I love it. I don’t back down from anything. This is what separated the good and great.”

He’s undeniably talented and on pace to have one of the best seasons of his career.

Chiefs WR Juju Smith-Schuster could be headed toward the best season of his career

Considering Smith-Schuster’s track record, he could be headed toward one of the best seasons of his career, if not the best. His last full season in 2020, he finished with 97 receptions over 831 yards. He also had nine touchdowns and an average of 8.6 yards per reception.

In 2018, he played another 16-game season that resulted in 111 receptions over 1,426 yards with seven touchdowns and an average of 12.8 yards per reception. This was arguably his best season, and at the pace he’s on now, he’s on track to finish this season just shortly behind that.

He’s undoubtedly an asset to the Chiefs alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and he’s seemingly just getting started this season in Kansas City. Now that he’s had a literal million-dollar game, only time will tell what else he’s capable of.
