The undefeated TCU Horned Frogs were given the No. 4 spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
The TCU Horned Frogs didn’t receive much love in the very first College Football Playoff rankings, receiving the No. 7 spot despite the fact that they were undefeated. But Week 10 of the season was a chaotic one, where 10 ranked teams all lost, including Tennessee, Clemson, and Alabama. The Horned Frogs maintained their undefeated record after beating the Texas Tech Red Raiders 34-24.
On Tuesday night, the Horned Frogs are officially in Playoff position, ranking fourth in the nation behind Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan respectively. They pulled just ahead of the Tennessee Volunteers, who fell from the first spot to the fifth following their loss to Georgia.

If one-loss Bama was ahead of TCU last week, why isn’t one-loss Tennessee ahead of TCU this week? Tennessee has a much better resume than Alabama.

Not opposed to TCU at No. 4 as much as the inconsistent logic that put them there.
Don't worry TCU, now that you're in the top 4 it's illegal for the Committee to drop you out if you keep winning. Could never happen.

Tennessee just got blasted. TCU is unbeaten. This isn’t hard

Doesn’t matter. Keep winning. #TCU

It's obvious the selection committee is making up for its mis-ranking of TCU last week.

I’m honestly shocked they have TCU in front of Tennessee. Sweet!

Last week, the Horned Frogs were ranked behind five undefeated teams last week, and to the one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide. As mentioned earlier, they watched as Tennessee got decisively beaten by Georgia, Clemson getting upset by Notre Dame, and Alabama losing to LSU in overtime in Week 10. Meanwhile, with their win, they’re now one of four undefeated teams remaining, and they received the No. 4 ranking.
Committee chair Boo Corrigan cited the committee valuing wins and TCU’s six wins over teams that were .500 or above this season for pushing them up to the fourth spot.
Boo Corrigan says the committee values wins and TCU has six over teams with a record of .500 or better.

Now, TCU is in a position to where they will have to win out to have a chance at making the Playoff at year’s end. In Week 11, they have a primetime game over the No. 18 Texas Longhorns. A loss could send them spiraling down the rankings, especially with one-loss teams such as Tennessee, Oregon, and USC all trailing them.
