Latest Josh Allen injury update suggests Bills aren’t dead in the water
The AFC East frontrunners take on the red-hot Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. And the Buffalo Bills hope their talented quarterback will be available.
The talent is undeniable. And the division-leading Buffalo Bills are looking to reach the postseason for the fourth consecutive year with the help of their gifted signal-caller.
However, there is also a recklessness regarding the play of fifth-year quarterback Josh Allen that is certainly head-scratching at times. Yes, he comes off a game against the New York Jets in which he ran for a season-high 89 yards, to go along with a pair of touchdowns.
However, for the third time this season, Allen served up a pair of interceptions. But unlike the first two instances which resulted in victories over the Rams and Packers, Sean McDermott’s club couldn’t overcome these miscues.
The Bills squandered a 14-3 second-quarter lead in a 20-17 loss. The talented hurler was sacked a season-high five times in the three-point setback. And the strong-armed performer was his own biggest critic when it came to his performance on Sunday.
As McDermott’s club prepares to host the 7-1 Minnesota Vikings, there has been plenty of discussion regarding the health of Allen. This week, he was found to have an elbow issue and further tests were underway. Regardless, there appears to be optimism when it comes to facing the Purple Gang on Sunday.
Of course, what appears to be really hurting these days is the Bills’ run defense. The club has allowed 208 and 174 yards rushing, respectively, the past two weeks in the split with the Packers and Jets. And can Buffalo’s offensive front protect Allen from the pass-rushing combo of Za’Darius Smith (8.5) and Danielle Hunter (5) – who have 13.5 of the Vikings’ 24 sacks.
So will the AFC East leaders have their field general ready to go on Sunday afternoon? Common sense says Allen will be ready to go. Of course, this 2022 NFL season hasn’t made much sense so far when it comes to so many teams.
