Michael Penix Jr. and Washington ended Oregon’s College Football Playoff dreams and essentially shut down Bo Nix’s Heisman hopes.

Oregon and Washington played the Game of the Year so far in the Pac-12 on Saturday night. If you missed it, you missed an incredible one.

The Huskies and Ducks went back and forth in the second half in a quarterback duel for the ages between Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr.

It was Penix who came out on top of Nix, who tried to lead a game-winning drive on an injured ankle.

The outcome all but eliminated Oregon from the College Football Playoff while damaging Nix’s Heisman hopes.

Here’s how the college football media reacted to the entertaining shootout.

The game was full of highlight plays, from Penix’s impressive touchdown throw late to Nix’s deep shots. It was also not without controversy.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning will face questions about his decision to go for a fourth down on the Ducks side of the field with the game tied and under two minutes to play. Oregon failed to convert and set up Washington’s game-winning field goal.

The refs also had their say. Oregon appeared to complete a pass to get into field goal range in the final seconds. The officials hit the Ducks with a dubious illegal touching penalty to take them out of field goal range.

Of course, that was after accusations that an Oregon receiver faked an injury to give the Ducks a chance to set up that play instead of having to clock the ball.

Whatever shenanigans went on, Washington got the win and Oregon suffered their first loss in Pac-12 play.
