NFL fans have to be wondering if the Week 10 edition of Monday Night Football will be better than last week’s Baltimore Ravens-New Orleans Saints matchup. Here are the two teams that are playing.

The NFL games this season have been far from great, and most of them have occurred in primetime.

Last week, Monday Night Football featured a game between the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints. On paper heading into the season, fans would expect that to be a close contest between playoff contenders. Instead, the Saints are one of the worst teams in the league, and the Ravens easily disposed of them with a 27-13 win. Don’t let the final score fool you, New Orleans’ lone touchdown happened with a little over four minutes remaining in the game.

Fans are certainly hoping the MNF game for Week 10 will be better. So, who’s playing?

Who plays on MNF tonight, Nov. 14?

  • Matchup: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders
  • Location: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Penn.

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to host the Washington Commanders on Monday night in a battle between NFC East rivals.

There is only one undefeated team entering Week 10 of the season, and they are the Eagles. General manager Howie Roseman made multiple win-now transactions this league year, and they are paying off. They have an offense that has a dangerous running game and an equally strong passing attack. Not to mention, their defense is stacked and has the ability to force the opponent to turn over the football. Granted, their opponents were far from great teams, but wins are wins.

Meanwhile, the Commanders are sitting alone in the basement that is last place in the NFC East. The Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and even the New York Giants are well above .500 and could very well be playoff bound. Yet, the Commanders have bounced back as of late, winning three of their last four games. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke has done relatively well in relief of Carson Wentz, but he had far from a great game last week against the Minnesota Vikings in their 20-17 loss.

The Commanders need to pick up wins, and they could get arguably the most important by ending the Eagles’ undefeated season. Let’s not forget that Ron Rivera and the Commanders did just that in 2020 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and rode that momentum to a NFC East title.

How many primetime games do the Eagles have this year

The Eagles are scheduled to play in five total primetime games this season. Entering Week 10, they have already played in three primetime games. Philadelphia defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-7 on Monday Night Football in Week 2, the Dallas Cowboys 26-17 on Sunday Night Football in Week 6, and the Houston Texans 29-17 on Thursday Night Football in Week 9.

After this game against the Commanders, the Eagles have just one primetime game remaining, and that is Sunday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers in Week 12.

Of course, there is the possibility that more Eagles games get flexed into primetime as the season progresses.

How many primetime games do the Commanders have this year

The Commanders are only scheduled to have two primetime games on the season.

Their lone primetime game ahead of Week 10 was in Week 6 when they defeated the 12-7 on Thursday Night Football.

Much like the Eagles, there’s the possibility that Commanders games get flexed to primetime slots.

Last time Eagles and Commanders won on Monday Night Football

The last Monday Night Football game the Eagles won was back in Week 2 when they beat the Minnesota Vikings 24-7. It was not a close contest, as Jalen Hurts accounted for three touchdowns on the day. The Eagles defense shut down the Vikings offense in the second half, forcing Cousins to throw three interceptions.

Washington, much like Philadelphia, were victorious in their last Monday night game. Back in Week 12 of the 2021 season, the Commanders defeated the Seattle Seahawks. Running back J.D. McKissic accounted for both of Washington’s touchdowns. Yet, with 15 seconds remaining, Seattle pulled within 17-15, and had the chance to force overtime with a two-point conversion. Instead, the Seahawks were unsuccessful, as quarterback Russell Wilson’s pass to wide receiver Freddie Swain was intercepted by cornerback Kendall Fuller.

Eagles vs. Commanders matchup history

  • Eagles record: 82-88-5
  • Commanders record: 88-82-5
  • Last Meeting: Sept. 25, 2022

The Eagles and Commanders have been heated rivals for quite some time. They first met back in 1934, and they have played each other on a regular basis ever since. The rivalry only increased during the creation of the Capitol Division in 1967, which later became known as the NFC East division in 1970.

Both teams have played each other 175 times, with the Commanders holding the slight edge, winning 88 games. The two teams met once in the playoffs back in the NFC Wild Card Round in 1991, where Washington emerged with the 20-6 victory.

These teams last met back in Week 3 this season, where the Eagles won 24-8. Philadelphia scored all of their points in the first half, and held Washington off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter. Oh, and this was the game where ex-Eagle quarterback Carson Wentz was sacked nine times for a loss of 58 yards by Philadelphia’s defense.
