Who plays on ‘Sunday Night Football’ tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for NFL Week 10 game
By Scott Rogust
Can the Week 10 edition of Sunday Night Football top last week’s Kansas City Chiefs-Tennessee Titans game? Here are the two teams participating.
In Week 9, the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans main-evented the Sunday schedule of NFL games. The Titans were seemingly on the verge of pulling off an upset, but Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes used his legs to extend a fourth quarter drive and score the game-tying touchdown to force overtime. Kansas City kicked the go-ahead field goal in extra time, and the defense prevented Tennessee rookie quarterback Malik Willis from escaping out of their own zone to force a four-and-out to clinch the victory.
That game certainly contained the thrills and excitement NFL fans were looking for on what was rather a dreary day of games. So, who competes in the Week 10 edition of Sunday Night Football, where they have the task of topping the Chiefs-Titans game?
Who plays on SNF tonight, Nov. 13?
- Matchup: San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Chargers
- Location: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA
On Sunday night, Nov. 13, the San Francisco 49ers host the Los Angeles Chargers in a matchup between two teams looking to gain ground on first-place in their respective divisions.
The 49ers are returning from their bye week and currently sit at 4-4 on the season. Prior to their week off, San Francisco had a convincing victory over the Los Angeles Rams, where newly acquired running back Christian McCaffrey recorded a passing, a rushing, and a receiving touchdown. They look to carry that momentum out of the bye and hope their offense continues to play like a juggernaut.
Then there are the Chargers, who are not having the most ideal of seasons. Yet, they are 5-3 and just one game behind the Chiefs for first-place in the AFC West. Last week, they narrowly pulled out a 20-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
One thing to keep an eye on his just how successful the 49ers offense can be now. They are getting do-it-all wide receiver Deebo Samuel back, giving head coach Kyle Shanahan his full arsenal of offensive weapons. They have a favorable matchup, as they face a Chargers defense that has allowed the third-most average points per game (25.8).

How many primetime games do the 49ers have this year?
As of this writing, the 49ers are set to have a total of five primetime games this season.
They played the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football back in Week 3, losing 11-10, and on Monday Night Football in Week 4, beating the Rams 24-9.
Besides their game against the Chargers on Sunday night, they have two more primetime games scheduled. In Week 11, they face the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football, whom they could knock further down the division standings with a win. Then in Week 15, they face the rival Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, which could very well carry huge implications in the NFC West title race.
How many primetime games do Chargers have this year?
The Chargers are seeing a lot of primetime action this season. Six games to be exact. Prior to the 49ers game, they played the Chiefs in the first Thursday Night Football game of the season in Week 2 (27-24 loss), and on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos in Week 6 (19-16 win in overtime).
In Week 11, the Chargers will return to Sunday Night Football, facing the Chiefs for the second time this season, and could determine whether Los Angeles is truly a threat to take the division title away from Kansas City. Then in Week 16, they face the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. The following week, they make their final Sunday Night Football matchup (barring a schedule flex) against the Rams.
Last time 49ers and Chargers won on Sunday Night Football
The 49ers have not had the best success on Sunday Night Football in recent memory. As mentioned earlier, they lost an ugly football game to the Broncos earlier this year. In 2021, San Francisco lost both of their Sunday night games to the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts.
Their last win on Sunday Night Football took place in Week 6 of the 2020 season, where they defeated the Rams 24-16. The 49ers took an early 21-6 lead behind three touchdown passes from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who distributed one each to Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk. The 49ers dominated the time of possession, logging a little less than 38 minutes.
The Chargers don’t have to look back to far to remember their last win on Sunday Night Football. Back in Week 11 last season, the Chargers picked up a 41-37 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Los Angeles had a 34-20 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but Pittsburgh tied things up following two five-yard touchdown passes from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers actually took a late 37-34 lead on a 45-yard field goal by Chris Boswell. But with a little over two minutes remaining in regulation, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert connected with wide receiver Mike Williams on a 53-yard touchdown pass to take the 41-34 lead and eventual win.
49er vs. Chargers matchup history
- 49ers record: 7-8
- Chargers record: 8-7
- Last Meeting: Sept. 30, 2018
The 49ers and Chargers have met head-to-head on 15 occasions, and it is not necessarily a rivalry, considering how few times they have faced off.
Perhaps their biggest game was back in Super Bowl 29 in 1995, where San Francisco picked up a 49-26 victory to claim their fifth Lombardi Trophy. That was also the final Super Bowl win for the 49ers.
The last time these two teams met was on Sept. 30, 2018, with the Chargers defeating the 49ers 29-27. Phillip Rivers threw three touchdown passes in that game, and Caleb Sturgis kicked the game-winning field goal with less than eight minutes remaining in the game.
