Titans offensive coordinator arrested for DUI after win over Packers

Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was arrested for DUI Friday morning.
After beating the Green Bay Packers on the road for Thursday Night Football, Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was arrested for driving under the influence on Friday morning.
Downing was pulled over by the Tennessee Highway Patrol in the early hours of Nov. 18. He went through the intake process at approximately 4:36 a.m. CT before posting bail at 6:46 a.m. CT. His arrest for DUI and speeding came after the flight back to Nashville from Green Bay. The Titans improved to a strong 7-3 on the season by trouncing the Packers Thursday in primetime, 27-17.
Tennessee just had its best offensive performance of the season with 408 yards of total offense.

Downing’s arrest certainly puts a damper on one of the Titans’ best wins of the season. Although the Packers have struggled mightily this year, as they fall to 4-7 on the campaign in the Tennessee defeat, the Titans extended their commanding lead over the AFC South. Barring some unforeseen collapse down the stretch, the Titans should win the division crown once again rather comfortably.
However, Downing’s arrest is going to seize all the positive momentum coming out of the Packers game in Nashville. Tennessee does not play again until Nov. 27 when they host the defending AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals. It was the Bengals who eliminated the top-seeded Titans from the AFC Divisional Round a postseason ago, a house of horrors for Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Ultimately, Downing was better served to get a ride back home or wait it out rather than getting behind the wheel. It must have been one heck of a plane ride home after the game on Thursday night. Unfortunately, this puts Downing back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. He just had arguably his best game as the Titans offensive coordinator since taking over for Arthur Smith.
Downing and the rest of the team need to be locked in to see how far they can go in the deep AFC.
