Chris Olave proved why the Saints drafted him in Week 11
By Rylie Smith
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave played a stunning Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Rams, proving why he was a worthy draft pick.
The New Orleans Saints pulled off a nice 27-20 win against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11, and Chris Olave played a major part in that. The rookie, who was the first-round pick for the Saints in 2022, played one of his best games yet, recording five receptions and one touchdown for 102 yards on an average of 20.4 yards per reception.
This was his first game averaging more than 20 yards per reception in a single game, with his second-best being at 16.8. Olave also executed a beautiful 53-yard touchdown on a great pass from quarterback Andy Dalton. That marked Olave’s third receiving touchdown of the season, which put the Saints up 24-14.
New Orleans has a lot of work to do as they sit third in the NFC South with a 4-7 record, but they certainly aren’t lacking in the wide receiver department with Olave and Jarvis Landry. While it’s common for rookies to need time to adjust before reaching their potential in the NFL, Olave is off to a hot start. The Saints certainly have a lot to look forward to as his career continues.
Chris Olave has been far from disappointing for the Saints
Over just nine games in his NFL career, Olave has 46 receptions and 658 yards for an average of 14.3 yards per reception. Among all players, he ranks 19th in average yards per catch, which is quite impressive in his rookie season. He also has the ninth-most total receiving yards among all wide receivers in 2022.
Though he does have room to grow, he’s certainly making a huge impact that’ll likely only grow greater and greater. The Saints need some big changes to the roster if they want to be contenders, and Olave is continuing to prove that he was a good pick toward improvement.
