Best fantasy football pickups for Week 12: WR Nico Collins, Houston Texans

Rostered: 11.3%

In Week 10, Nico Collins led the Texans with a whopping 10 targets. Following the game, Texans head coach Lovie Smith had this notable quote.

“Probably as many targets as he’s had and rightfully so,” Smith said via KPRC’s Aaron Wilson. “Good football player. We need to get him the ball more.”

Collins continued to play an expanded role on Sunday, as he was tied for the team lead in receptions (5) and targets (7). Strikingly, this is the second straight game that Collins has been targeted more than veteran Brandin Cooks. The Texans are 1-8-1 and in the midst of a rebuild and are clearly trying to get the 23-year-old Collins more involved on offense.

Furthermore, the 6’4″ receiver has been getting extra looks in the red zone. He has been targeted four times in the red zone over the last two games.

Quarterback Davis Mills has not put up huge numbers in Texans’ offense this season. Mills is 18th in the NFL in passing yards (2,144) and tied for 19th in passing touchdowns (11). So, that somewhat hampers Collins’ fantasy value. Still, his newfound role significantly raises his floor and ceiling.

He is worth adding in most leagues.
