NFL Mock Draft: Bryce Young becomes a franchise savior, Lions get a QB of the future
By Brad Weiss
The 2022 NFL season is entering Week 12, and as the have and have-nots continue to move in different directions, the draft order continues to change.
Week 12 of the 2022 NFL season will get underway on Thanksgiving, as three matchups will fill the schedule throughout the holiday. We have seen many teams emerge as legitimate Super Bowl contenders, while the Houston Texans remain the worst team in the NFL.
Here, we take a look at what the first round could look like next April.
2023 NFL Mock Draft: Houston revamps offense in top-10
The 2022 season has worked out exactly as was to be expected for the Houston Texans, as they currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Signs point to the coaching staff moving on from Davis Mills this week, which puts a quarterback in play with the No. 1 pick next April.
That pick is going to be debated until draft night, but here, we like the Texans to go with Alabama star Bryce Young. Young has been playing on another level right now and could end up winning the Heisman Trophy.
The Baker Mayfield era is officially over in Carolina, as the team will now turn to Sam Darnold to try and win them some games down the stretch. Mayfield and Darnold were mistakes for the franchise, so there is no doubt they will be going quarterback if they remain at No. 2 come draft night.
With this pick, and Bryce Young off the board, the Panthers should run up to the podium to select CJ Stroud, a talented quarterback from Ohio State. Stroud can get the offense moving with his arm, and his legs, and in Carolina, he could be the best quarterback prospect since Cam Newton.
