Caleb Williams will embody Carson Palmer
When Carson Palmer won the Heisman in 2002, his performance against Notre Dame was widely credited as the clincher. Caleb Williams has the chance to do the same.
Williams has lit up the defenses heās faced over the last month. Heās rocketed up toward the top of Heisman power rankings and odds charts. Anyone who has watched him play this season knows what an exceptional talent he is.
The next step towards actually winning the Heisman is putting in a Heisman-level performance against a solid defense.
Williams does need to answer that question. His worst performances of the season statistically came against Oregon State and Washington State, the defenses that most closely resemble Notre Dameās.
He needs to prove he can rise to the occasion in the biggest game of the season so far for USC. And he will. Williams is too good, too dynamic and too jaw-droppingly gifted to be stopped with the College Football Playoff and a rivalry on the line.
