Jerry Jones has been open about his and the Dallas Cowboys interest in free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Here’s what the owner has said on the matter.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has simultaneously been open and tight-lipped regarding his interest in signing Odell Beckham Jr. On one hand, he’s made it abundantly clear that he and many of the players have reached out to the free agent wide receiver about coming to join America’s Team. On the other, he’s been pretty guarded about what those conversations and/or negotiations have entailed.

After Dallas’ big win over the Giants on Thanksgiving Day to move to 8-3 on the season, though, Jones once again had some comments about OBJ and the potential move for the Cowboys.

This time, however, he had some pretty juicy information, especially with the news that Beckham is set to begin visiting teams, Dallas included, in early December before signing anywhere.

Before we get there, though, we have to go back to earlier in the week when Jones was talking about the wide receiver. When he was asked if “money or health” was more important in the talks between the player and the team, Jones declined to answer directly and said, “If you can improve this team right now and it’s within reason, you should do it. And we have a chance.”

So the Cowboys owner clearly believes that the franchise is in the running to sign OBJ. And that leads us to after the Thanksgiving game when Jones subtly dropped a nugget that he and Beckham had met that day and had “good” meeting.

However, going back to the question about health, Jones was asked if he believed that OBJ could play this season. That was something he seemed unprepared to answer, but that would also make sense if Beckham has not yet visited the team and their facilities in Frisco.

What’s clear, however, is that Jones is working diligently to try and make this deal happen. And while the Cowboys owner is often talking, whenever he harps on a subject such as this and has action behind it, something normally gets done, which should be an optimistic sign for fans.
