Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he expects to play next week against the Chicago Bears, despite a frightening injury.

Aaron Rodgers has dealt with all sorts of injuries this season, most recently a rib issue on Sunday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Packers would lose the game, and Rodgers was removed and eventually gave way to Jordan Love.

No. 12 stated that he “couldn’t really breathe and couldn’t really rotate my body,” which is a frightening thought given the potential for serious internal injury.

Nonetheless, Rodgers plans on playing this week after he revealed to the Pat McAfee Show that he received good news on his medical tests.

Normally, Rodgers playing for the Packers would be good news, but it’s not so clear this time around. Green Bay is nearly eliminated from playoff contention, and the Packers haven’t exactly been an offensive force with Rodgers behind center. Perhaps he should pass the reigns to Love and heal up?

Aaron Rodgers is hurting the Packers

Green Bay sits in third place in the NFC North. They will be favored against the lowly Bears, but a win on Sunday won’t have much of an impact considering the distance between themselves and the rest of the NFC playoff contenders.

The Packers chances of winning the division are essentially gone, and they’re still several games removed from Wild Card contention.

Meanwhile, Green Bay is three years in to the Jordan Love experience, and still know very little about how he can perform in game action. He has a limited amount of starts under his belt, and if the Packers truly believe him to be the future at the quarterback position, it’s time to find out if their premonitions are correct.

Forcing an ailing Rodgers to play isn’t the best solution here, but No. 12 has earned the right to decide that for himself.
