Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the bests in the league, and he’s earned PFF’s highest grade of quarterbacks in the league.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes exploded onto the scene in 2018 upon becoming the team’s main starter over Alex Smith, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. He’s consistently recognized for his ability, and PFF recently gave him the honor of being their highest-graded quarterback with a grade of 91.5.

It’s definitely well-deserved as he leads quarterbacks in several ESPN stats, including PAA (48.7) and EPA (94.0), among many others.

Because of Mahomes, the Chiefs are also tied with the Minnesota Vikings for the second-best record in the NFL so far this season (9-2), and they’ve continued to win the division each season since 2016, with 2018 onward being attributed to Mahomes. While this season isn’t over yet, they’re almost guaranteed to clinch the AFC West.

This season, he’s recorded 292 completions for a completion percentage of 66.1. He’s passed 3,585 yards for an average of 8.1 yards per pass and has thrown 29 touchdowns. Mahomes leads the league in both areas.

He’s also a favorite of earning the MVP this season as he’s on pace to breaking the single-season passing yards record.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is having an MVP campaign

If Mahomes continues the season at the pace he’s currently on, he’s set to reach at least 5,540 passing yards, which would break Peyton Manning’s single-season record of 5,477. If he falls short, it’s still impressive as he seems likely to continue to lead the league this season.

He does have some solid competition, however, so anything could go. Jalen Hurts is also a contender to win MVP as he’s helped the Philadelphia Eagles maintain the best record in the league (10-1), truly growing into his role as starter. He recently took home his first NFC Offensive Player of the Week award, so his talent isn’t going unnoticed.

Mahomes, however, is slightly favored by most because of how many stats he’s leading. He’s on his way to achieving many great things this season, and the PFF ranking was just icing on the cake.
