New York Mets could replace Jacob deGrom with Jameson Taillon
While there was talk earlier in the offseason that the Mets might be a suitor for Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, perhaps it’s a pitcher that the Mets steal away from their Big Apple rivals.
Jameson Taillon has pitched for the last two years in the Bronx, following four seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. During his time with the Yankees, he has been extremely durable, making a 61 combined starts over the two campaigns while logging a cumulative 4.08 ERA. Last year, he struck out 151 batters in 321.2 innings while walking just 32, resulting in a 4.72 strikeout-to-walk ratio, the second-highest of his career.
Like the other two pitchers mentioned in this article, Taillon’s market value has been red-hot throughout the early part of the offseason. The Mets will have plenty of competition if they want to sign him.
Word is that Jameson Taillon has impressed teams during his free-agent Zoom meetings. Taillon's market is gaining steam, per sources, and he is expected to command a deal worth more than the four-year, $56 million contract Jon Gray signed with Texas last winter.

Could an answer for the Mets come from the arch-rival Yankees? With deGrom no longer an option, don’t be surprised.
