Fan who got into it with Draymond Green offers to match his $25k league fine

Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green cursed at a fan earlier this week, and the fan defended Green by offering to match his fine.
Warriors star Draymond Green was fined $25K for cursing at a fan on Wednesday, but the fan disagreed with the fine and offered to match it and donate to Green’s favorite charity or NBA Cares.
It’s understandable and almost respectful that the league took action against Green for the incident as it proves they care about the fans, but if the fan saw it in good fun and is actively asking the league to not fine him, then the action may be a bit extreme.
The fan told ESPN that he didn’t take offense to Green’s words, therefore he doesn’t agree with the fine. He also stated, “Because of that, we can make light of the situation, do some good, make a donation. Make it charitable … [fan decorum] is a sensitive topic, but it’s not always as controversial as it’s made out to be.”
Green, however, isn’t in his first round of trouble and it likely won’t be the last time he gets in trouble, either.

Draymond Green has history of being controversial
Earlier this season, Green was fined, but not suspended, for punching teammate Jordan Poole in the face. Poole and Green appeared to exchange words before the altercation, and then Green sent him to the ground in return.
While that was a much more serious altercation, it goes to show that Green doesn’t hold back what he says or thinks and will express himself in some not-so-favorable ways.
Luckily, the fan took it lightly and rather seemed to view it as a harmless joke, but that won’t always be the case in interactions like that. The NBA had the right idea in mind by fining him, but because the fan is actively asking them not to, it may be a bit extreme.
