Brazil, a five-time World Cup champion, play South Korea in the round of 16 at the World Cup on Monday, Dec. 5 at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar. Here’s how to watch.
Pre-tournament favorites Brazil tangle with South Korea on Monday in the round of 16 at the World Cup.
The last-16 meeting that will take place in Doha between Brazil and South Korea is the first between the two nations at a World Cup.
Brazil finished first in in Group G, but dropped their final group stage match to Cameroon. Brazil manage Tite fielded a second-strong lineup in that 1-0 defeat.
The five-time World Cup winners are likely not to have playmaker Neymar in the lineup. The PSG striker injured his ankle in Brazil’s opening match. Neymar has practiced with the team, but his recovery for the round of 16 remains in doubt.
Of course, Brazil could field two competitive sides at this World Cup, although strikers Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli were unable to find the back of the net against Cameroon despite a plethora of chances. Against South Korea, starters Richarlison and Vinicius Jr. are expected to play.
South Korea made the round of 16 after finishing second in Group H, downing Portugal 2-1 on a stoppage time goal by Hwang-Hee-chan.
