4. Best fantasy football pickups for Week 14: RB James Cook, Buffalo Bills

Rostered: 25.4%

Surprisingly, Cook led the Bills in both carries (14) and rushing yards (64) on Thursday night. He was also active in the passing game hauling in all six of his targets for 41 yards.

This season, Devin Singletary has clearly led the Bills’ backfield, but Cook is starting to gain some momentum. On Thursday night, snaps were almost even between the two players. Cook played 32 offensive snaps, while Singletary played 33 offensive snaps. In Week 11, Cook had 11 carries for 86 yards.

Singletary has been solid in his role, but the Bills did not draft Cook in the second round to sit on the bench. Furthermore, Cook has looked great in limited action. This season, Cook is averaging an efficient 5.4 yards per carry, which is tied for the fifth-most among NFL running backs (min. 60 carries). His 2.4 yards after contact per rush is tied for the fourth-most in the NFL (min. 60 carries).

In the majority of leagues, it is still too early to trust Cook in your lineup, but he is worth stashing on your bench, given his upside.
