SAN DIEGO — As the MLB Winter Meetings wound down on Wednesday here in San Diego, there was a sense that several teams had accomplished their biggest goals for the offseason, while others were still floundering and trying to figure out options.
So which MLB teams left San Diego feeling better about their roster? Let’s start with the positives.
3 MLB teams that were winners at the MLB Winter Meetings
New York Mets
Despite losing Jacob deGrom and Taijuan Walker, the Mets were winners of the MLB Winter Meetings by replacing them in the rotation with Justin Verlander and Jose Quintana.
Verlander will certainly give the Mets a formidable one-two punch at the top of their rotation with Max Scherzer, and Quintana gives New York a solid option in the middle or back of the rotation with a very cost-friendly deal. And yes, the New York rotation improved greatly in the first week of December.
Hard not to see that as a win for New York.
