Deebo Samuel carted off field in tears with awful-looking leg injury [UPDATED]
By Mark Powell
San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel was carted off the field for the San Francisco 49ers in their Week 14 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 49ers could be without their Swiss army knife for quite some time. Deebo Samuel, the do-it-all running back/wide receiver/whatever his role is on any given Sunday had his leg rolled up on, and seemingly twisted it in the wrong direction.
Samuel was carted to the locker room in tears after initially trying to walk off the field.
Deebo immediately grabbed for his knee, and the instant replay was not kind to the 49ers star. Hopefully, it wasn’t as bad as it looked.
Deebo Samuel injury update
We’ll have more information on Samuel’s injury status when it’s given, but it’s likely a safe bet that he’ll miss the rest of San Francisco’s Week 14 game against the Buccaneers. The Niners have had brutal injury luck this season, starting with QB Trey Lance and extending to backup Jimmy Garoppolo and now Samuel.
Per the 49ers, Deebo Samuel suffered a knee injury.
Samuel stood up briefly, giving fans some hope that perhaps the injury wasn’t as bad as it looked initially, but then sat back on the turf.
Per Jordan Schultz, thankfully Samuel seems to have avoided the worst, though he will undergo further tests to confirm.
Can 49ers win without Deebo Samuel?
As great of a story as Brock Purdy has been, the 49ers ceiling without a player like Deebo Samuel is not all that high, even in the wide-open NFC. Sure, San Francisco can still win their division without Samuel thanks to a stout pass rush, but the offense will be severely limited come playoff time.
We’ll have more information on Deebo Samuel’s injury shortly.
