Carlos Correa has signed $350 million contract with San Francisco Giants

Free agent shortstop Carlos Correa has signed a monster $350 million contract with San Francisco Giants.
The drama went right down to the wire, but the Carlos Correa sweepstakes have come to an end — and what an end it is.
After spending a season with the Minnesota Twins — one that was successful enough it ignited about a long-term deal there — Correa is leaving to sign a monster $350 million with the San Francisco Giants, according to Jeff Passan.
Not only is it a ton of money for Correa, but the deal will stretch over the next 13-years, meaning the 28-year old shortstop will theoretically be with the Giants until he’s 41. Essentially, if all things go according to plan, Correa has effectively decided to spend the rest of his career in San Francisco.
Correa was one of the hottest free agents in 2022 and looks to have settled on trading his snow shoes in for flip-flops as he heads to the West Coast.
The drama kicked into overdrive in what turned out to be the 11th hour, as it was reported on Tuesday night that the Mets might have been eyeing him as well. One source told The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal that there was “smoke” but was unclear about whether there was an actual fire.
It turns out the answer doesn’t really matter, as the Giants agreed to a deal with Correa not long after that reported leaked out.
The seismic nature of Correa’s deal is almost hard to fathom. It will go down as the fourth largest agreement behind Mike Trout ($426.5M), Mookie Betts ($365M) and Aaron Judge ($360M). It’s also the single largest for a shortstop, surpassing what the Mets gave Francisco Lindor ($341M).
