The New York Yankees are favorites to land Carlos Rodon, but they’re capable of making even bigger moves that could lead them to success in the near future.

The New York Yankees have proved they’re making big moves to optimize the success of the team this offseason. They recently secured Aaron Judge with the largest contract in MLB history (nine years worth $360 million), and they’re determined to continue making big moves, thanks to Judge pressuring them.

They’ve reportedly had their eyes on Carlos Rodon for quite some time and are expected to make their final offer to him soon, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post. However, there are several moves they could be making without even considering Rodon.

The Yanks are among the wealthiest teams in the league, as proven by such a massive deal to Judge, and there are a few stars on the market they could go after, as well as a few trades they could make.

Yankees could aim to sign Carlos Correa

Carlos Correa is one of two star shortstops remaining on the market, and the Yankees could aim to sign him. He’s the better option of the two (the second being Dansby Swanson), and he would definitely help the team. New York has several infielders, but none are at the caliber of Correa.

The team has struggled for postseason success since their last World Series win in 2009, and adding one of the best defenders in the league would certainly have it’s noticeable impact. He wouldn’t be cheap, but he’d be worth it as he’s earned a Fielding Bible, Gold Glove and Platinum Glove all in 2021.

Having him and Judge on the field and in the lineup together would be an undoubtedly explosive mix. Correa has a +70 career defensive runs saved and hit .291/.366/.467 for an OPS of .833 with the Minnesota Twins over the 2022 regular season.

While he’d certainly be a big investment, he’s doing what most players can’t and would help push the Yankees toward the success they’re looking for.
