With news breaking on Tuesday night that the San Francisco Giants had signed Carlos Correa to a massive contract, what could San Francisco’s lineup look like in 2023?

The San Francisco Giants have their shortstop of the future after inking Carlos Correa to a 13-year, $350 million contract. Landing one of the top shortstops in the game certainly gives the Giants another offensive weapon in the lineup and lessens the sting from the franchise losing out to the New York Yankees for Aaron Judge’s services this offseason.

Correa coming in at shortstop means that Brandon Crawford, one of the faces of the franchise since his debut in 2011, will likely move to another position for his final season with the team (his two-year, $32 million deal ends at the conclusion of this campaign). Crawford has only played shortstop during his 1,525 games in the Bay Area, but could see time at second and third base this season as Correa takes over at shortstop.

Crawford’s usage is just one of the questions that Correa’s arrival in San Francisco will bring to Gabe Kapler and his crew this season. Another would be exactly where Correa fits into the lineup, along with new outfielder Mitch Haniger, inked to a three-year, $43.5 million deal during the recent MLB Winter Meetings.

San Francisco has improved its lineup with those two acquisitions, but is there more to come for the Giants this offseason? What could a true “dream lineup” look like for the Giants? Let’s explore the possibilities.
