Steph Curry injury update: Shoulder injury forces early exit against Pacers
By Ian Levy
Steph Curry was torching the Indiana Pacers until an apparent shoulder injury sent him to the locker room in the third quarter.
Steph Curry was doing everything he could to keep the Warriors in the game against the Indiana Pacers. Golden State trailed by 20, 74-54, at the end of the first half but Curry had put up 27 points by himself. He added another 11 in the third quarter as the Warriors began to shave down the lead before an unlucky play ended his night.
Curry reached in to try and strip the ball from a driving Jalen Smith, who had two hands on the ball by the time Curry reached in. Smith was bringing it up with two hands, Curry was trying to force it down with one and lost the battle, grabbing his upper arm in pain and ultimately leaving the floor.
What is Steph Curry’s status after apparent shoulder injury?
Curry did not return to the game and as of this writing, Warriors PR staff had not offered any additional information. They later announced Curry would receive an MRI on Thursday.
Curry finished the night with 38 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds and 2 steals, shooting 11-of-19 from the field. However, the Warriors were overmatched with both Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson out of the lineup and the combined struggles of Donte DiVincenzo, Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga (44 points on 16-of-45 from the field) were too much to overcome.
The Pacers won 125-119, giving the Warriors their second straight loss and dropping them to 14-15 on the season. The Warriors play the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday and still have games against the Nets, Knicks and Raptors on this east coast road trip.
