There is one MLB team that has been silent on the Dansby Swanson front, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not in on the shortstop.

Entering the offseason, there were four top-tier shortstops available in free agency. Now, only one remains in Dansby Swanson. Trea Turner, Xander Bogaerts, and Carlos Correa joined the Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants, respectively, on 10-plus-year deals. Now, there are multiple teams with needs at the position, and Swanson is the best player available.

There is one team that has been quiet on the Swanson front, but that doesn’t mean they’re not in on the shortstop.

According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, a team that fans “shouldn’t count out” in the Swanson sweepstakes are the Atlanta Braves. Heyman notes that the belief is that Swanson would want to return to Atlanta, and that the Braves are “very stealthy.”

Braves reportedly can’t be ruled out of Dansby Swanson sweepstakes

Braves fans would certainly welcome Swanson making a return to the team on a long-term deal. Not to mention that the Swanson was born and raised in Georgia. However, that could be all dependent on the offers that he receives from other teams. Now that Swanson is the top player available, it’s entirely possible that the offers he receives will only increase.

Other teams that are interested in Swanson include the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins, and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Red Sox, Dodgers, and Twins all lost their starting shortstops to free agency. Meanwhile, the Cubs have Nico Hoerner as their starting shortstop, but they’ve been in on every top shortstop in free agency.

The Braves brought in Swanson back in 2016 in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Shelby Miller. Swanson was selected first overall back in the 2015 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt. In 2022, one year after the team won the World Series, Swanson was named to the All-Star Game and won the Gold Glove, both of which were career-firsts for Swanson.

During his seven years with the team, Swanson recorded a .255 batting average, a .321 on-base percentage, a .417 slugging percentage, 102 home runs, 411 RBI, 433 runs scored, and 775 hits.

The Braves can’t be counted out, but will they be able to match similar offers from other interested teams to keep Swanson?
