1. Red Sox should look into trading for Bryan Reynolds

The Red Sox have successfully added depth to their outfield by signing Masataka Yoshida, a move that seems to have potential. But only time will tell as he’s yet to play an MLB game.

They are, however, in a bit of a pickle in terms of designated hitter as their former DH, J.D. Martinez, is on the market and Boston likely doesn’t intend to re-sign him. While Bryan Reynolds isn’t on the market, he requested a trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Boston should certainly look more closely into that.

It’s bound to be a nearly impossible trade but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. The Red Sox have quite a few prospects that could look enticing, and Reynolds could be the perfect available candidate for a designated hitter as well.

While he has been a little bit inconsistent per season, he’s mostly remained a well above-average hitter (aside from the 2020 season). Over his four-season career, he’s slashed .281/.361/.481 for an OPS of .842. He’s a good power hitter, and he could even add more depth into the outfield if the Red Sox find they need him defensively, too.
