3 biggest causes for concern after Chiefs barely survive lowly Texans

No. 1: Turnovers haven’t gone away

The Chiefs have committed 13 turnovers since the bye week, including two more against the Texans. They haven’t gone without a turnover since Week 5 against the Raiders.

Even more concerning, KC has now had seven games this season with multiple turnovers.

Patrick Mahomes leads one of the most dangerous offenses in the league, but their propensity to shoot themselves in the foot continues to keep them from reaching their full potential.

If it’s not interceptions (Mahomes threw three last week), it’s fumbles (the Chiefs had three and lost two this week). Those are killer. Kansas City was lucky to survive them over the last two weeks. It’ll be that much more difficult to do the same in the playoffs against opposition much better than the Broncos and Texans.

Given the performance of the defense this year, Andy Reid will need his offense to be in tip-top shape for the playoffs. Protecting the football has to be the first priority for every player on offense.
