College football Early Signing Day: Predicting where the top 10 unsigned 2023 recruits will land
College football Early Signing Day is here for the 2023 recruiting class on Dec. 21 and we have predictions for the Top 10 unsigned recruits.
There’s no question that the college football landscape has changed drastically in recent years, most wildly as of late with the transfer portal and rampant NIL money being thrown around. But let’s not also forget about how Early Signing Day and the Early Signing Period has changed things. Now, we get to see that in full force on Wednesday, Dec. 21 with Early Signing Day upon us.
We’ve already seen some big moves throughout college football. 5-star OT Kadyn Proctor flipping from Iowa to Alabama in a move that many reading the tea leaves thought was possible. A bigger shock earlier in the week was 5-star QB Dante Moore flipping from Oregon to UCLA in a big win for Chip Kelly. And that’s just the madness at the top of the recruiting rankings.
Most of the Top 100 recruits in the 247Sports Composite rankings have already signed or committed (though they could still flip on Early Signing Day or later), including the likes of Arch Manning. But there are still several recruits still unsigned. And we have our predictions for where the Top 10 unsigned 2023 recruits will land to at least start their college football careers.

College Football Early Signing Day Predictions 2022: Where the top 10 unsigned recruits will commit
UCLA will keep racking up recruiting wins by keeping Rodrick Pleasant in Cali
If there’s one thing that Chip Kelly has always been able to find at UCLA (and at Oregon before that in the college ranks), it’s speed. And Rodrick Pleasant might be the fastest player in the 2023 recruiting cycle after running a 10.14s time in the 100m and 20.40s time in the 200m in high school. That speed translates to the field in a big way as he’s displayed dynamic coverage ability as the No. 86 overall recruit in the class.
Though he does need to get stronger to hold up physically with his 5-foot-10 frame at the college level, his speed and athletic tools in addition to solid coverage instincts should allow him to see the field sooner rather than later. With interest from all over the country, I expect the Gardena, CA native to stay home and for Kelly to land another big recruit after flipping Moore leading up to Early Signing Day.
Rodrick Pleasant has not set a time to announce his commitment.
Matt Rhule makes his first big splash by keeping Malachi Coleman in Nebraska
While Nebraska does not have the advantages it once did in recruiting now that we’ve entered the modern era, the first step for new head coach Matt Rhule finding success with the Cornhuskers will be making sure he keeps any top-end talent from the state at home. And that really begins with 4-star athlete Malachi Coleman.
A two-way player (receiver and defensive end) at Lincoln East, Coleman is a ball of clay at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds who played three sports in high school. If he wants to be used on defense, he’ll need to fill out his frame but he’s a freak athlete with ridiculous potential.
Rhule and the Huskers have the inside track on him given his ties to Lincoln and this figures to be a great first act for the new head coach as he’ll land Coleman whenever he decides to commit.
Malachi Coleman has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
