The Atlanta Braves aren’t letting the New York Mets live down their second-place finish in 2022. They’re straight trolling on Twitter over it.

The Atlanta Braves have clinched the NL East five seasons in a row, and they’re certainly feeling confident about it as their mascot, Blooper, is trolling the New York Mets on Twitter over it.

The Mets recently signed Carlos Correa to an expensive 12-year deal worth $315 million after he failed his physical with the San Francisco Giants. Meanwhile, the Braves have been highly successful with a low-cost team filled with young stars, which is something they’re known for as not many teams can pull such a feat off.

Blooper made it a point to hold this over their heads following the signing.

To put things into perspective, the Braves have clinched the division for five consecutive seasons and managed to overtake the Mets during the last week of the regular season in 2022.

However, they may be speaking too soon as the Phillies are up-and-coming and the Mets made some solid moves this offseason.

The Braves NL East reign could be coming to an end

The Braves are undoubtedly a good team with a lot of talent, but their star-caliber team could be falling apart. They still have several good players, including Ronald Acuña Jr., Michael Harris II, Max Fried and Spencer Strider, but it may not be enough to compare to the big moves the Phillies and the Mets have made this offseason.

The Mets lost ace Jacob deGrom, and they replaced him with Justin Verlander, which is the perfect replacement. Verlander recently won the World Series with the Houston Astros and earned his third Cy Young, proving he’s still capable of championship performance. They also signed Correa, which gives them an advantage as they gained a star shortstop and Atlanta lost one (Dansby Swanson).

The Phillies also gained a star shortstop, Trea Turner. While they didn’t look like contenders during the regular season, they surprised the world by moving up the ranks, defeating the Braves during the playoffs and going to the World Series. They have a great lineup with a lot of power, and they’re making big moves to become better this season too.

Meanwhile, the Braves haven’t necessarily splashed big yet. As the Mets and Phillies are growing, the Braves are keeping their talent at roughly the same level, minus the hole that Swanson leaves behind.
