Cowboys fatal flaws going into NFL Playoffs: Passing game

There’s a reason the Cowboys have added T.Y. Hilton and have been connected to Odell Beckham Jr. all season long: The passing game is atrocious.

CeeDee Lamb has over 1,000 yards receiving, the only player to eclipse that mark for Dallas. In fact, no one else has even come close, with Noah Brown the only other receiver over 500 yards on the year. Tight end Dalton Schultz has accrued 445 yards and Michael Gallup 339.

Hilton will be a good add once he’s ready to play, and Beckham would be a solid add if he can get healthy. Even if neither of these players necessarily stuns the world with massive receiving yardage, simply forcing defenses to have to choose where to put their best defenders will be a massive help to Lamb’s game.

In general, though, the additions Dallas can make at this point are going to be of the decoy variety to help Lamb have an easier time getting open as the No. 1 receiver. Hilton and Beckham are both proven, but aged receivers, the latter with a questionable future this year given that his ACL recovery has been painstakingly slow, even if he does end up signing with the Cowboys.

The run game has steadied the Cowboys all year long, but if a team can figure out how to stop that, where does Dallas go?
