College Football Festivus Airing of Grievances 2022: Wasting Bryce Young, Caleb Williams’ injury and more
Festivus is here and, as always, we start with the Airing of Grievances — but we’re doing so with the 2022 college football season in mind.
Sure, the holiday season has Hannukah in full swing and many people are preparing for Christmas as well. But the real ones know that Dec. 23 is another holiday on the calendar as Festivus is upon us.
For those unaware, Festivus is an adopted fictional holiday from Seinfeld that George Costanza and his family created. And the Festivus celebration always begins with the Airing of Grievances in which you are able to share the things that disappointed you this year.
As we’re in the thralls of college football bowl season, though, it only feels right that we air our own grievances about the 2022 season. This is College Football Festivus for the rest of us. I got a lot of problems with you people, so let’s get them out.

College Football Festivus Airing of Grievances No. 5: Caleb Williams getting injured in the Pac-12 title game absolutely stunk
Early in the second quarter, the USC Trojans were up 17-3 over Utah in the Pac-12 Championship Game and less than 40 minutes away from a College Football Playoff berth. But then it became clear that eventual Heisman-winner Caleb Williams was compromised with a leg injury and the wheels came off. USC’s defense collapsed, the offense wasn’t itself and the end result was Utah getting its second win over USC and the Trojans ending up in the Cotton Bowl.
This sucks. It’s that simple.
Make no mistake, Lincoln Riley was coaching a flawed team this season. But for as talented as Ohio State is as they made the Playoff over USC, the fact of the matter is I’d much rather see the most electric and best player in college football on the CFP stage than I would see a team that didn’t know what to do when it got punched in the mouth by Michigan. And it’s unfortunate that one injury in the final game of the year seemingly ruined the chance to see that.
