Travis Hunter alleges that Florida State tampered with his transfer
Colorado transfer WR/CB Travis Hunter tweeted a hefty allegation against Florida State’s coaching staff, saying they tried to tamper with his transfer.
Travis Hunter has beef with Florida State. A lot of it, apparently.
The Colorado transfer, who left Jackson State to follow Deion Sanders to Boulder, got into a Twitter tiff with five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams, a recent FSU signee.
Williams took a swing at Hunter on Instagram Live before signing his letter of intent.
“Ain’t no Travis Hunter over here. We locked in. Time to work,” Williams said, referring to Hunter throwing hats off the table, including one from FSU, where he’d been committed, before announcing his decision to join Jackson State.
When On3 put Williams’ words on a graphic, Hunter quote tweeted it saying, “Could Never Be Me,” with crying with laughter emojis.
“You right im solid,” Williams hit back.
“They will take me over u right now,” Hunter replied. “Better ask yo coach.”
When another Twitter user replied about Sanders trying to get Williams to Colorado, Hunter came back with the big accusation: Tampering.

“FSU called before I hit the portal,” Hunter tweeted.
That’s a major allegation but it also feels like a toothless one.
Coaches in college football love to whine about tampering. It’s only natural players would throw out the accusation as well for clout.
The chances of the NCAA doing anything about it are low. Especially because an investigation into tampering by Florida State would just open up all the other programs out there to similar investigations. Chances are most coaches don’t want that.
Williams is going to make his way at Florida State. Hunter is going to start anew at Colorado. And the chances of them ever meeting on the field is low unless the CFB gods gift everyone a Florida State vs. Colorado bowl matchup in the near future.
