3 teams that should swoop in on Carlos Correa if Mets deal falls through

Could the Red Sox sign Carlos Correa?
Boston lost Xander Bogaerts this offseason thanks to a dangerous offer by the San Diego Padres. The Red Sox were never going to match that, but fans were more upset about how Bogaerts was lost, rather than Boston refusing to up their price tag in the moment.
Bogaerts could’ve been had last offseason if Chaim Bloom and Co. had simply met him halfway. Instead, Boston failed to do so, and it cost them a homegrown star. They’re at risk of doing so again with Rafael Devers, who reportedly wants north of $300 million as well.
Trevor Story is in line to replace Bogaerts at shortstop. This was the Red Sox backup plan all along, as they signed him last offseason. Story played plenty of second base last season, and could do so again if Bloom convinced management to pay up for Carlos Correa on a high-AAV, short term contract.
That’s where we’re headed with Correa if a second organization bails on a long-term, $300 million+ deal. Boston is a longshot, but signing Correa would put a giant bandaid on losing a player like Bogaerts in the first place.
