Josh Jacobs blasts Raiders after another tough loss to Steelers
By Mark Powell
Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs wasn’t happy after another loss in Week 16, this time to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a last-minute drive.
Vegas exited Acrisure Stadium as a defeated team on Saturday night. Derek Carr could be on his way out. Josh McDaniels latest head coaching stint is off to a disappointing start. Could it get much worse for the Mark Davis-owned franchise?
Jacobs is one of the lone bright spots on this Raiders team which has yet to play up to its talent. Carr should be a Pro Bowl talent given the team around him. Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow are elite wide receivers. Jacobs himself has been one of the best running backs in the league this year.
Josh Jacobs calls out the Raiders
So, what gives? Something is missing, and Jacobs is tired of it.
“It’s bullshit. It’s on us. Everybody wants to talk about the defense, but they made their stops when they’re supposed to. We have to help them out. … and I am tired of saying that,” Jacobs said.
Las Vegas scored an opening-drive touchdown to kick off the game, but managed just three points thereafter. Wherever Jacobs frustrations lie, they should be aimed at those on his side of the ball, if not himself. Jacobs rushed for just 44 yards on 15 carries, good for under three yards per rush. In a game with negative wind chill and perhaps colder than that on the field, how were Carr and Co. to operate without much of a running game?
It’s easy to understand Jacobs’ frustration, as many pinned Las Vegas as a playoff team before the start of the year. As long as he’s willing to take accountability, as well, then there’s no harm in his statement.
