One perfect trade to revitalize Aaron Rodgers and the Packers
By Ryan Heckman
Why the Packers say yes to this trade
First of all, why wouldn’t they do this?
Let’s be honest. Rodgers has every reason to want out after this year, regardless of the season’s outcome. He’s spent years watching the Packers refuse to draft a first-round wide receiver to help him out. Now, he has a couple of young guys who have looked good at times. But, are either Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs going to pan out as true alphas?
The jury is still out. We’ll see.
In Higgins, the Packers know what they’re getting. He’s a guy that can absolutely be a number one in this league, and adding him would allow the other guys like Watson and Doubs to flourish even more.
Watson and Doubs are excellent options if they’re a number two or three, respectively. Taking some pressure off those guys with Higgins could launch this offense to new heights. Defenses will have to account for Higgins, period.
Then, it opens things up for the speed of Watson to be used in a variety of ways. And, if Doubs is healthy and also on the field, he gives Rodgers one of those versatile possession receivers as well. Higgins could completely change the face of this offense, and give Rodgers a reason to stick around for year another “Last Dance.”
