As the NFL world came together to pray for Damar Hamlin, Skip Bayless shot off a heartless tweet that had people calling for him to be fired.
Monday Night Football ended under terrifying circumstances with the game between the Bills and Bengals suspended after Damar Hamlin had to be removed from the field via an ambulance and taken to the hospital.
Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle. He needed CPR on the field while players and coaches from both teams looked visibly shaken.
Fans, media and the sports world largely responded on Twitter by expressing concern and sending well-wishes to Hamlin and his family.
As for Skip Bayless, he made a fool of himself with the most soulless tweet of the century.
“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant.”

The rest of Twitter came for Bayless immediately.
NFL Twitter called for Skip Bayless to be fired after Damar Hamlin tweet
Are you seriously talking about when the football game should be postponed? Damar Hamlin’s health is ALL that matters at the moment! Nothing else!!! https://t.co/LNlbJLx1pY

I don’t even wanna give his tweet more clout and traffic than it’s already getting, cause that’s his entire bit. But when you have to sink as low as Skip Bayless did for that take to be the “reaction hot take guy”. You just don’t have a soul anymore.

Someone needs to shut Skip Bayless up. This guy is the worst https://t.co/8WPSnrtxkl

If this is the end of Skip Bayless on TV, which...let's be real...it's long overdue, I'm not the least bit surprised this is how it's going down

Not worth giving that Skip Bayless tweet any sort of attention. Just a loser with a loser tweet. He’s shown us who he really is way too many times over the years for y’all to be shocked by this

Will Skip Bayless be fired for this insensitive and disgusting tweet?! Will there be company and public wide outrage at the fact one of their employees just shrugged off another man’s life over a football game?! Or does he get a pass? Keep the energy consistent. What a guy smfh pic.twitter.com/iDwdC0ufog

Bayless is a hot-take merchant. He makes a living off saying inflammatory things and getting a reaction from them. So in some ways, this isn’t a surprise.
Still, you’d think Bayless would understand that making the situation about the football scenarios was the wrong move. A man’s life hangs in the balance. That’s literally the only thing that matters. Not the playoffs. Not the standings. Not Week 17.
Forty minutes after tweeting it, Bayless hadn’t deleted the tweet, despite it being thoroughly ratio’d. That probably says it all.
UPDATE: Bayless eventually apologized for the tweet.
“Nothing is more important than that young man’s health. That was the point of my last tweet. I’m sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters. Again, everything else is irrelevant. I prayed for him & will continue to,” Bayless tweeted.
